How To: Import Liquibase Enterprise's Confluence Documentation Into Your Confluence Site

Sometime before go-live (or after go-live), you may ask Datical to export Datical documentation so that it is instead hosted on your internal Confluence site. This could be because of many reasons:

  1. Lots of users want access to the documentation - this cannot scale as it will require granting access to each user by someone at Datical
  2. You may want to develop your own documentation on top of what Datical provides
  3. You may want a point-in-time snapshot of the documentation that matches the version of Datical you currently have installed.

Overview: What Spaces are Relevant?

In order for all links to work correctly on your internal Confluence site, you will need to export up to three spaces:

  1. Your Company's Space on Datical's Confluence
  2. Liquibase Enterprise/Datical Product Documentation (DDOC)
  3. Liquibase Business Portal (LBP)
  4. Datical Knowledgebase (DDKB)

Setting up Permissions for Users

  1. Identify the user who will be given "admin" privileges.
  2. Ask your Datical representative to give this user an "admin" privileges to allow such user to export space contents.

How to Export Confluence Spaces?

A user with "admin" access to shared Confluence space (per #2 above) will need to perform these steps:

  1. In your shared Confluence space (or Datical Documentation space or Datical Knowledgebase space), go to "Space Settings" in the left pane
  2. Click on "Content Tools", then "Export"
  3. Choose "XML" option
  4. Click the "Next" button
  5. Choose "Normal Export"
  6. Click the "Export" button. This started the export process which may take a while especially for exporting Datical Documentation space and Datical Knowledgebase space.
  7. When the export finishes, download the export:
  8. The download is a zip file. Save this file.
  9. There is no need to unzip the file. You will need to use this zip file to import the space.
  10. Be sure to EXPORT all three shared Confluence spaces listed above!

How to Import Confluence Spaces?

These steps will be performed by someone in the customer's organization who has "import" access to their internal Confluence site. Once they have obtained an export of one of Datical's shared spaces they will follow these steps to complete the import process:

  1. Go to Confluence settings
  2. Scroll down in the left pane and select "Import Spaces"
  3. Click on "Select file to import" button.
  4. When prompted, specify the ZIP file obtained during the export process:
  5. Click "Open" to start uploading the ZIP file.
  6. When prompted to import, click the "Import" button:
  7. Import may take a while for large zip files.
  8. Once import completes, click the "Next" button
  9. If prompted for Jira Macro Repair, click "Skip macro repair"
  10. Your import is now complete. Go to your list of Confluence spaces and the newly imported space should now be listed.
  11. Be sure to IMPORT all three shared Confluence spaces listed above!
